This employee retention speaker and employee retention trainer loves to conduct training and do workshops on employee retention and employee loyalty.  When doing them for clients, the clients often ask how they know if what I teach works.  I just tell them, to look at the numbers.  If your employee turnover drops…clearly…you know it worked!  That’s one of the best ways to determine success.  There are other ways, but this is the best one.  The problem is…how do you get results?

One of the problems most trainers have is getting people to ultimately do the things they want participants to do the things they are teaching.  I find the best way to do that is to tell participants to “be selfish.”  Forget about lowering employee turnover for your employer so the employer can make more money.  This employee retention author tells participants to “be selfish” and to do it for themselves.  Forget about the organization.  Often that offends senior leadership, so I ask them, “Are you after results or not?”  When push comes to shove, they want results.

The best way I know to get action out of supervisors that I have in my workshops is to tell them that I want them to imagine a department with no turnover and a team of people that know their jobs.  Imagine where they as supervisors are not constantly training people.  I tell them to imagine a job where people aren’t frustrated with the revolving door of teammates that they have to carry the load for as the “newbies” are coming up to speed.  When I put it that way, I see the gleam in their eyes as they imagine their life being a lot easier.  This is one way I get them to do the things I teach…among other things.

So, if you are a supervisor reading this, close your eyes, and imagine the scenario I describe above and “be selfish.”  Forget about the organization and do it for yourself.  That’s one of the best employee strategies this employee retention speaker knows to lower staff turnover.  And…Remember…Give Your Employees C.R.A.P.®  (Caring, Respect, Appreciation, and Praise)  Why?  Because C.R.A.P.
