This employee retention expert and employee retention speaker was touring with the President of the company. This particular operation was part of a larger corporation. As we strolled through the operation, numerous people stopped us to chat, and everyone said “hi” to us. This surprised me because the President was looking to bring me into work with their supervisors on giving their employees C.R.A.P. (Caring, Respect, Appreciation, and Praise). As we were nearing the end of the tour one employee asked who I was and the President told her, mentioned C.R.A.P. and what it stood for. She then looked at the President and, “You can’t ever leave. You take care of us. You’re the best!”
This employee recruitment expert was surprised by the whole series of events and when we returned to the President’s office, I asked him why he was thinking about bringing me in in light of the positive atmosphere, the high morale, and comments like the one we heard. He replied that he wanted to take his operation to the next level and that he needed to ensure that every leader followed the C.R.A.P. principles in his organization and if every leader was not, the whole system would certainly not be as effective as it could be.
The message that came from the employee along with the fact that the President recognized he was only a part of their success was huge. That’s why he has such a well-oiled machine for an organization. He checked his ego and relied on his first line and middle-level leaders. He also recognized that he had to ensure they had the tools they needed to be successful as leaders.
All of the things above lead me to believe he will be successful no matter what he does. This employee retention author saw in action how caring respect appreciation and praise will work for you if you use them. The fact that one employee came right out and told the President, “You take care of us” says it all!
